Wally is building software for the next generation of social commerce. One of the most unheralded platform shifts happening right now is the e-commerce revolution happening on social platforms like TikTok, IG, and Youtube over the next few years. While everyone else is chasing the AI-wave, Wally has quickly and quietly become one of the top selling stores on TikTok Shop in just 2 short months, on pace to process 10s of millions of dollars in annual GMV. We've cracked the playbook on how to help influencers sell products online, and are looking to keep scaling up our early success. We have a long runway and are close to profitability.

Our initial product helps influencers import their Amazon Storefront into TikTok Shop and take advantage of the improved flow that the native TikTok Shop checkout provides.

We are looking for a founding engineer to join the team and build out our first-party storefront, additional API integrations, and Shopify app. You will also recruit and lead new team members, help set the product direction, and contribute in countless other ways to help build the business.

We’re based in NYC and looking to hire in NYC. We believe that in-person collaboration is strategically important for a company at our stage — both for velocity and company culture.

Experience
- 4+ years of experience building and architecting backend APIs
- Experience working with relational databases, especially Postgres
- Experience working with Javascript/Typescript/Nest.js (Node)
- Familiarity with AWS and Terraform

Bonus points
- Entrepreneurial mindset (we encourage employees to be future founders and hope this can be a great stepping stone)
- Previous experience building for e-commerce merchants, like experience with Shopify’s ecosystem
- Previous experience at a high-growth, fast-paced startup

Compensation
- Base: $140k-190k

About the team
‍Mayank Jain is a former engineer and product manager at Reddit where he worked on the Growth team and impacted nearly every facet of the business, including user growth, subreddit growth, revenue, and safety. Before that he was also the first employee and founding engineer at Viome, where he wrote the initial technical foundations of the consumer facing product, and helped define, manage, and execute the launch of the first version of the service including both digital and physical experiences. He knows exactly what it’s like to come into an early stage startup with a lot of the specifics undefined while building the foundations of a multi-hundred million dollar business.

We have a small but mighty team already working on GTM and engineering that have helped scale the company to millions in annual GMV and processing tens of thousands of orders.
